3月16日下午，湖南机场集团召开长沙机场改扩建工程目标冲刺动员大会，以“立下军令状、啃下硬骨头、打赢攻坚战”为主题，动员湖南机场建设指挥部全体员工以饱满的热情和积极的心态全力推进长沙机场改扩建工程，确保今年10月开工建设。
长沙机场本期改扩建工程以T3航站楼为建设主体，主要包括新建1条3600米长、45米宽的第三跑道及相应的滑行道系统，站坪机位共152个(近机位75个);新建航站楼50万平方米、综合交通中心28.5万平方米及配套设施。
据了解，规划中的T3航站楼为五指廊航站楼方案设计，旅客步行距离与空侧运行效率综合达到最优。
其中，航站楼与综合交通中心双平层交通对接，属国内首创，而一体化、无缝换乘的航空综合枢纽，包括了四种轨道交通和四种地面交通，将是国内涵盖交通接驳方式最多、效率最高的机场之一。
